How We Review Forex Brokers

At CompareForexUK, every broker review and comparison on this site follows the same structured methodology. Our goal is to help UK traders compare FCA-regulated forex brokers on the factors that matter most: cost, safety, platform quality, and transparency. This page explains how we test, rank, and update our reviews.

What We Test

We assess every broker across six core areas:

  • FCA authorisation and client money protections
  • Trading costs (typical spreads, commissions, overnight swap fees, inactivity charges)
  • Platform quality (charting, order types, execution speed, mobile apps)
  • Account options (minimum deposit, account types, demo availability)
  • Client protections (negative balance protection, FSCS eligibility, segregated funds)
  • Transparency (clarity of fee schedules, risk disclosures, marketing claims)

Our Rating Scale

Each broker receives a rating out of 5, weighted across the six areas above. A rating of 4.5 or higher reflects a broker that performs strongly across all categories. Ratings below 4.0 indicate meaningful weaknesses that UK traders should understand before opening an account.

How We Stay Independent

CompareForexUK earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with some of the brokers listed on this site. These relationships do not influence our ratings or editorial content. Brokers cannot pay for a higher score, and we include FCA-regulated brokers we do not have affiliate relationships with where they are relevant to UK traders. How Often We Update Reviews

Broker pricing, platforms, and regulatory standing change. We review every broker page at least quarterly and update sooner when a broker makes a material change to pricing, platforms, or regulatory status. The "Last updated" date on each page reflects the most recent review.
